This past Saturday I had the opportunity to attend leader training for Focus on the Family’s The Truth Project. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have gone to the “latest, greatest” program only to leave with a sense of having wasted a whole day for nothing. So I had some reservations as I went to the training in the early morning, fearful that it would be just one more “program” designed to make shallow Christians feel good about their shallowness. I am happy to say my fears were totally unfounded. The content is solid and not your usual “Sunday School fluff” that has so often permeated Christian productions. This is really good stuff!! It is the kind of basic, but not shallow, training that is desperately needed in our churches today.
This is not an evangelistic apologetics course. This is a course designed to help the church become stronger by total worldview training. It is not your typical “culture war” stuff, it is solid foundational training to strengthen Christians. The end result should be that Christians and churches will become better equipped for evangelism by understanding truth as it relates to all areas of life.
I like the way the website answers the question: “What is the Truth Project?” — “The Truth Project is a DVD-based small group curriculum designed to build a systematic and comprehensive biblical worldview in the lives of believers. Each lesson looks at life from a biblical perspective, studying the very nature and character of God and how He has revealed Himself to us.”
We will be using The Truth Project at Grace Baptist to help strengthen our body to be all that God has called us to be. I encourage you to consider it also. Take a look for your self at The Truth Project.
